Materials and Colours

Materials

All our garden fountains and water features are manufactured in our Surrey workshop.

Made from a natural stone chosen for its particular characteristic's, together with pigments, selected sand and premium cement to produce a unique concrete mix that is frost proof and hard wearing.

This mixture is vibrated into precision moulds to produce a dense stone casting that is cold to the touch and stronger than if it were carved from a single block of stone. Each fountains is hand finished and tested before dispatch.

The resulting fountains and water features are faithful reproductions of the original sculptures and, once outside in your garden, will weather and age with beauty.

Colours

All garden fountains and water features are avaliable in our range of six colours. The colour pigments are added to the mix during the manufacture. The final fountain colour is an integral part of the fountain so will not peel or flake. The colour swatches are a good guide to our standard garden fountain colours but as we manufacture all fountains and water features in our workshops there is the option to change or specify the colour or shade that you want. So for example if the 'Slate grey' fountain colour is your favourite but it appears a little darker on your screen than you would like it is possible to tell us what shade, perhaps a light grey stone colour would be best for your choice of garden fountain.

Viewing colours over the internet can be difficult as much depends on your screen/browser settings so we have given you a brief description of each colour as a second point of reference.

stone colour Portland Portland stone has as the name suggests is quarried from the Isle of Portland and is a natural white coloured limestone. For centuries it has been used as a building stone for prestigiouse buildings for example the Tower of London, London Bridge and was the main choice for the rebuilding of London after the great fire, noteable buildings include St Paul's Cathedral, Palace of Westminster,The British Museum and later the United Nations building in New York.
stone colour Bathstone Bath Stone is a honey coloured Limestone originally obtained from Somerset, its warm honey colour gives the City of Bath its distinctive honey appearance. Bath Stone has been used extensively as a building material throughout southern England for churches, houses and public buildings such as railway stations.
stone colour Green Our Green stone is not based on a natural stone colour but was developed for the person who wants a more subdued water feature or fountain in the garden. Rather than contrasting with the vegetation in the garden this green colour stone is designed to blend into your garden scheme without distracting from your planting.
stone colour Terracotta Terracotta is Italian for "baked earth", so essentially fired clay. The type of clay used will give the finished colour. Our standard terracotta is a pale sun baked orange common in traditional Italian and Spainish towns. This pale colour will add a little sunshine to a shaded area in your garden.
stone colour Dark Terracotta Dark Terracotta is again based on a fired clay colour, this time a dark earthy red/brown colour. This is the more traditional english terracotta colour and fits easilly into any colour scheme.
stone colour Dark Terracotta Slate Grey as the name suggests is a Grey/Black colour. The addition of this colour to the mix produces an interesting 2 tone effect as wet areas of the fountain show as a glassy jet black and dry areas of the fountain take on a matt grey/black. The same effect can be seen on slate roofs when wet and dry.
