Q. What are your water features and garden fountains made from?
All water features and garden fountains are made from a unique blend of natural stone .
Q. Do your water features come complete with a pump?
Yes all our water features and garden fountains come complete with pump and every thing you need.
Q. Are your water features painted?
No, pigments are added in the manufacture, the colour goes all the way through and will not peel off.
Q. Can your water features and fountains be used as a center piece for a pond?
Yes they can, but please state this when ordering as small changes need to be made to the cable gland and you will need a larger pump.
Q. can you supply with an Antique finish?
Yes we can, just select your colour on the product pages and the next page offers an option to add an antique finish.
Q. Can you advise on how to stop algae growth in the water during the summer?
If your fountain or water feature is located in a sunny spot the strong sunlight may cause the water to turn green due to algae growth. If you can fill and top up your fountain with rain water it will help as rain water contains less nutrients than tap water. There are also a number of brands of algae treatment sold for ponds which can be used in reduced amounts for fountains and water features.
Q. Do you supply solar powered pumps?
We have over the last few years tested various solar pumps on the market.
To date we have not found any that were sufficiently powerful or would run more than a few weeks of the year.
There is also the problem that as the sun moves across the sky the panel needs to track it to get the best results,
a restful day in the garden turns out to be a continuous project of moving the solar panel to keep the fountain running. We don't therefore supply or recommend solar pumps as we feel you will be disappointed with the result.
Q.How much does it cost to run a fountain or water feature?
This depends on 3 things.
1) The size and power consumption of your pump
2) How long it is running per day
3) How much you pay for your electricity
As an example the pumps we use for our wall fountains are 6.5 Watts, based on a price of 10p a unit the electricity cost of running a wall fountain 24 hours a day for a month would be 50p per month.
If you would like to make your own calculations, we have used the energy calculator at UK Powers web site http://www.ukpower.co.uk/running-costs-elec.asp
